We are looking for an ambitious junior data engineer to join our DataOps team! The DataOps team is responsible for driving the technology behind ingesting millions of events every day from a variety of sources and providing them to the rest of the business for making data-informed decisions.
You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data architecture to support our ever-growing need for deeper insights. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with data, has proven experience working with data pipelines and is excited by the prospect of shaping the future of data collection and analytics infrastructure initiatives in the company.
Your teammates will consist of a small DataOps team working closely with the Insights team to support the data needs of cross-functional teams. The role will offer you a chance to provide meaningful impact to the company whilst working with modern Cloud technologies.
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Understanding of Business Intelligence stacks, including; ETL processes, data warehousing, and visualisation.
- Programming in Python or an object-oriented language.
- Experience of working with REST APIs.
- Database experience; particularly writing queries in SQL.
You will find the following valuable in this role, but they aren't absolute requirements:
- Experience working with cloud services such as AWS EC2, RDS and Redshift.
- Familiarity of agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with shell scripting.
- Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, informatics, or similar field.
- Familiarity with DevOps approaches and CI/CD tools.
- Business analysis skills.
- Experience with stream processing technologies such as Kinesis.
- Knowledge of machine learning for data analysis use-cases.
